Old VS. New
R O B O C O P
Robocop is what inspired me to begin this series, with the re-booted version coming out recentley. I wanted to explore the visual differences between the old and new suits. This lead to me designing a minimalistic poster of their helmets, using police blue and red which is why the backgrounds are so bright. The red also fits nicely with his new visor.
This then lead to me creating an extra variant of the design below where only the chinstrap and visor are visible. I feel this image is more effective as a stand alone piece.

I then began thinking of other films which had undergone reboots. The next one I worked on was Willy Wonka / Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, using key items of clothing and again concentrating on the head to produce these minimalist images.

Godzilla showed the most dramatic change of all, from a stop motion puppet to a large digitally generated monster. Upon drawing these two and comparing them to each other, I had a great sense of how different they are and how fantastic they were in their own right.

DA NA NA NA NA NA NA NA NA NA NA NA NA NA NA NA BATMAN!
As you can problaby tell, the next piece I did was batman. With all its reboots and sequels, I had to pick two definitive eras of batman. I chose the original Adam West batman and the most current 'Dark Knight' batman which is soon to be usurped once again by 'Ben Affleck' batman.

As you can see, the Dark Knight version had a number of revisions, with my favorite being the bottom right.
